I am delighted to be entering my tenth year of teaching! Originally from Canada, I have taught middle school Language Arts and Humanities in Spain and Brazil, and I am thrilled to be teaching 6th grade Language Arts, Social Studies and English Language Enrichment at AAS!
I am committed to creativity, design and innovation. Integrating technology, music and the visual arts are elements of my project design approach and student-centered instruction. As writers, readers and critical thinkers, reflective practice is another key component in the classroom as we gain a deeper understanding about ourselves, others and world in which we live.
The performing arts is one of my passions and I have been involved in directing and choreographing middle and high school productions. I especially enjoy working with students to create their own scripts and dance performances.
Reading, cycling, swimming, yoga and playing with my adorable Persian cat Lucy are among some of the activities I enjoy. I also love composing music and lyrics on the piano. Recently, I started learning the guitar and I am excited about taking classes.
It's going to be a wonderful year and I am looking forward to getting to know you all!
Please know that I am always available for help. Feel free to stop by and speak with me, email me or set up an appointment to discuss any questions, concerns or any other issues.
